Brand heritage and specialisms
Fiskars began in 1649 when Peter Thorwรถste was granted permission to establish a blast furnace and bar hammer in the Finnish village that gave the company its name. That ironworks origin makes Fiskars one of Finland's oldest continuously operating companies.
The business evolved through copper processing, forged products and mechanised manufacturing, establishing Finland's first mechanised workshop in 1837. Its later design history includes the first plastic-handled scissors, launched in 1967 and closely associated with the brand's functional orange-handled identity.
Fiskars now applies its design and materials experience to axes, splitting tools, shears, pruners, spades, saws, scissors and household products. Blade geometry, handle length, cutting capacity and intended material help distinguish tools designed for different gardening and maintenance tasks.
Power-Hub carries Fiskars across gardening, cutting and general hand-tool categories. The live category ranking below identifies the strongest current areas, while five featured products provide a practical route into the range.
