Flexovit began as an abrasives product brand in Enschede, the Netherlands, in 1958. Founder Wim Ebbink had established the company Slijptechniek and started manufacturing Flexovit and Speedoflex cutting-off and grinding wheels in 1959.

Exports across Europe began in 1960, followed by wider international development and investment in automated pressing during the 1960s and 1970s. The company formally adopted the Flexovit name in 1984 and became part of Saint-Gobain in 1998.

The present range extends beyond bonded wheels into coated and non-woven abrasives, diamond cutting tools, carbide burrs, wire brushes and polishing products. Wheel specification, machine speed, material, mounting and required finish are essential considerations for safe and effective abrasive selection.
