Brand heritage and specialisms
Thor Hammer Company traces its roots to the Stephens family's Birmingham belting businesses in the early twentieth century. Their experience with rawhide led to trials of rawhide hammers around 1930, creating a specialist product line distinct from the original drive-belt trade.
The Thor name was selected in reference to the hammer-wielding Norse god. Early development produced copper-and-rawhide combination hammers, including a type supplied in the toolkits of cars made by S S Cars, the manufacturer later known as Jaguar.
The range expanded through replaceable plastic faces, Thorex nylon hammers, dead-blow designs, split-head hammers and solid copper or brass mallets. The company adopted the Thor Hammer Co Ltd name in 1966 and remains family owned, manufacturing its hammers and mallets in Britain for industrial, engineering and assembly work.
Power-Hub carries Thor across hammer, mallet and specialist striking-tool categories. The live category ranking below highlights the strongest areas of the current catalogue, followed by five featured products available through the store.
