Corded or Cordless Work Light? A Guide to the SCANGRIP NOVA 6 C+R

Power Hub / Lighting

Some jobs keep you in one room for hours. Others involve moving from room to room with a small collection of tools. Those two working patterns place different demands on a work light: sustained operation in one location, and convenient movement between locations.

The SCANGRIP NOVA 6 C+R combines cable and rechargeable operation in one floodlight. If your working day regularly switches between fixed and mobile tasks, that flexibility is the main reason to consider it.

When cable operation is useful

For a longer session in a workshop or refurbishment area, access to a suitable power supply can make cable operation convenient. It reduces the need to organise the session around battery charging.

The listed 5-metre cable gives you some placement flexibility, but measure the actual route from the supply to the intended light position. A cable that reaches across an open floor may still need a different route to keep access clear. Check the supply requirements against the manufacturer’s instructions and the arrangements on your site.

When battery operation earns its place

Cordless use is helpful when the light needs to move with you. Think of checking several rooms, moving around a large item on a bench, or repositioning the lamp as work progresses.

The NOVA includes runtime and battery-life indicators. These help with planning, but the product page does not give a complete runtime table for each output level. Check that detail if you need to cover a defined period without mains power. Battery capacity alone is not a reliable promise of working time.

Brightness is only part of the decision

The published range is 600 to 6,000 lumens, with five selectable levels. That adjustment matters because the right setting changes with the space and the task. A high output can be useful across a larger area, while close work may benefit from a lower level and a better angle.

The OPTILight specification is expressed differently: 200 lux at 2 metres. Lux describes light reaching a surface, whereas lumens describe light output. Keep the measurement distance in mind when comparing illuminance figures from different products.

For decorating or surface inspection, placement deserves attention too. Light directed across a surface can make unevenness easier to spot. Walk around the work and check the shadows before settling on a position.

Consider the complete setup

Power Hub lists IP67 and IK07 protection for this model. Follow the manual’s conditions for use, connections and charging rather than treating those ratings as permission for every environment.

The product description also mentions mounting on a SCANGRIP tripod and an optional diffuser. These can change how you position or spread the light, but should not be assumed to come in the box. Check accessory compatibility and what is included before ordering.

Questions before you buy

Is it suitable for both mobile and longer fixed jobs?

Its cable and rechargeable modes are designed to offer that flexibility. Match the supply and battery runtime to your planned work.

Are a tripod and diffuser included?

Do not assume so. The diffuser is described as an add-on, and the listing does not establish that a tripod is supplied.

Do I always need 6,000 lumens?

No. Use the output and position that give a clear view of the task without unnecessary glare.
