Brand heritage and specialisms
Barrettine began in Bristol's River Street Docks in 1879, when J. V. Barrett established a business supplying whale and fish oils, tar, lamp oils and tallow to ships and chandlers. That chemical-handling heritage later extended into industrial oils, home and garden products, wood preservatives and decorating materials.
Brothers Colin and Peter Bailey acquired the company in 1973, and Barrettine developed from an earlier tractor-oil name into the shared product identity. New industrial and consumer divisions followed, while in-house manufacture of wood preservatives and decorating sundries began in 1990.
Today's Barrettine Products range includes interior and exterior wood care, protective oils, cleaners, paint-removal products and surface treatments formulated in Bristol. Timber species, previous coating, indoor or outdoor use, UV and moisture exposure, desired appearance and maintenance interval all influence selection.
Power-Hub carries Barrettine across wood protection, decorating, cleaning and maintenance categories. The live ranking below will show the strongest current areas, followed by five relevant products selected from the store.
