BOSTITCH began in 1896 when Thomas Briggs founded the Boston Wire Stitch Company. Its first wire stitcher followed in 1903, and the first Bostitch desk stapler appeared in 1914, establishing a fastening heritage that predates modern pneumatic construction tools.

As industrial stapling developed, the company adopted the Bostitch name in 1930. Expansion into wood fastening accelerated after the acquisition of Calwire in 1961, followed by coil-nailer development for pallet, roofing and construction work; Bostitch joined Stanley Works in 1986.

The present range includes manual, electric, cordless and pneumatic staplers and nailers, compressors, hoses, hand tools and application-specific fasteners. Users need to match tool type, gauge, crown or collation format, fastener length, material and intended production rate.
