GE Lighting has roots extending back more than 130 years to the early commercial development of electric light. The business grew from the enterprises associated with Thomas Edison and became a major contributor to successive generations of incandescent, fluorescent, halogen and LED technology.

Its history includes the development of the fluorescent lamp in 1938, the halogen lamp in 1959 and work by GE engineer Nick Holonyak on the first visible LED in 1962. These milestones helped shape lighting for homes, workplaces, entertainment and specialist applications.

In 2020 the lighting business was acquired by Savant Systems and became GE Lighting, a Savant company. The brand now combines established lamp knowledge with connected controls and smart-home technology, while continuing to focus on efficiency, usability and reliable illumination.

On Power-Hub, GE Lighting is relevant to customers selecting lamps and related lighting products for replacement, maintenance and installation work. The live specialist categories and selected products below show its present representation within the catalogue.
