Johann Lessmann founded a small brush factory in Oettingen, Bavaria, in 1948 after leaving the Sudetenland. An early order for more than 100,000 hand brushes helped establish a business that would specialise in tools for mechanical surface treatment.

Continued investment transformed the workshop into a highly automated manufacturer while keeping production in Oettingen. The family business is now managed by its third generation and employs around 250 people according to the company profile.

Lessmann produces wheel, deburring, cup, bevel, shank, hand, interior and strip brushes, together with industrial special solutions. Wire or filament material, brush geometry, mounting, machine speed and workpiece determine suitability for cleaning, deburring, rust removal, structuring or polishing.
