Monument Tools traces its history to 1880, when George Collier began trading as a tool merchant in Cornwall Road, Brixton. The business developed through successive generations of the Collier family and now represents more than five generations of specialist tool knowledge.

During the Second World War the company produced small precision parts for the Ministry of Supply, including large numbers of instrument screwdrivers. It later expanded its premises and adopted the Monument Tools Ltd name in 1976 to strengthen recognition of the product brand.
