Paslode was founded in the United States in 1935 by inventor J. W. Leslie. Its name was formed from “Packing Shipping Loading Devices”, reflecting the industrial fastening problems the early business set out to solve.

The brand entered powered fastening with a pneumatic upholstery tacker in 1959 and followed it with the GN-212 pneumatic nailer in 1962. Development of gas-powered technology led to the first Paslode cordless nailer in 1986, the same year the company became part of Illinois Tool Works.

Paslode now focuses on timber-to-timber fastening systems for framing, roofing, flooring and finishing work. Tool platform, nail type and collation angle, length and diameter, substrate, corrosion class, fuel-cell compatibility and service requirements all need to match the intended application.
